Preschooling at IISD is an ideal facility for infants and toddlers, the Preschool program aims to give a head start to children. According to the Islamic view of a child’s nature (fitrah), the ‘Tarbiyyah methodology’ used at IISD is a unique system. This gives the students the freedom to choose, respects their natural development while promoting independent learning. Our school provides one of the best practical tarbiyyah set-ups in Bangladesh, successfully using educational material for hands-on learning, Alhamdulillah. We believe that learning through tarbiyyah is learning for life! Therefore, here at IISD, our focus is to link our students with Allah in everything they do and develop a strong foundation for their entire lives.

The Preschool is a 3 years comprehensive program, which starts at around 3 years of age and may go up to 6+ years. The time from birth till the age of six is considered as ‘the golden period’ for a child to feel, understand and grow. This golden period is used to make our students independent, giving them rich learning experiences in the best Islamic environment.

IISD Preschool has an ideal environment equipped especially to ensure the effective and optimal development of the students. We offer a safe and nourishing environment where children are involved in fun games and activities, rhymes and stories, art and crafts, du‘as and tarbiyyah that help lay the proper foundation right from the beginning.

IISD promotes healthy eating habits and instills concepts of sharing and mutual respect. We make awareness programs for students and mothers to inform of nutrition and health. With two teachers in every class, we have a remarkably low student to teacher ratio of 13:1 which helps us to give individual attention to each child. Trained teachers inculcate Islamic values in everyday life and teachings. They encourage curiosity, inspire creativity and strive to make every learner experience success.

Curriculum

At IISD, Preschool, the balanced approach in curriculum designing focuses on the students’ physical and mental grooming, as well as on their spiritual uplifting. The activity-based methodology stresses creativity along with tarbiyyah as the main feature of IISD Preschool.

At IISD, the day begins by remembering Allah. Arabic starts right from PlayGroup so that children are able to grasp it when they reach the higher classes. It is essential for every Muslim to recite the Quraan in the perfect manner. So, students of Preschool learn Tajweed and memorize daily du‘as of our Prophet Muhammad g.

The students are encouraged to speak in English and Arabic. The practice of phonics is done to improve their listening and speaking skills; an intense leveled reading program helps to improve reading skills.

The study of Mathematics becomes fun and exciting due to the unique methodology. The foundation for a future scientific career is made here. It is not only for a career in technology but we groom them to inculcate scientific attitude by this approach.

At IISD, a subject thoroughly enjoyed by all our students is the Islamic studies. Children are eager for the lessons as they are planned in the Prophetic method based on imparting both theoretical knowledge and practical application of concepts relevant to the child’s age and maturity.

Cultural studies involve History and Social Studies. This is extremely important to establish true facts in the young minds and wipe out the impurity and colonial filth of the Non-Muslimsimperialism and inform of the rich Islamic traditions and heritage in the Arabs, Mecca, Medina, Damascus, Basra, Kufa, Samarkand, Andalucía (Spain), Afghanistan, Central Asia, India, Bengal, China, Malaysia etc.

We teach Botany, Zoology, Life Science, Chemistry and Physics in the conceptual method. We show them that theory is based on reality by examples, instead of letting them memorize without comprehending.

Assessment

The progress of the students is closely monitored by class teachers, subject teachers, and the section head. Daily behavior reports help in the identification of areas of concern, both academic and otherwise, and help in planning strategies to overcome them. Remedial programs are carried out for students who require special attention in certain academic areas. If required, parents are informed in order to play a positive role to help their child to improve. Report cards are given to the parents at the end of each term.
